Upon entry, the corridor of a high school immediately comes into view. The hallway is buzzing, there's certainly some activity around, but the halls are barren. Looking outside of the window indicates that it's night time, yet the sky occasionally distorts and flashes in a static, completing the eerie feeling to the school itself. As one gets closer to the doors of each classroom, they may hear the chattering around them either grow silent, or amplify slightly. Those that are silent are completely locked. No entry whatsoever to be found. There are three where the voices amplify, and anyone is allowed to head in. The students in class won't pay any mind to whoever enters.
The first room seems to be a class comprised of, truthfully, normal high school students. Some hanging out and just having a run of the mill conversation, others hard at work studying. The second room is completely different, with quite a few troubled looking adults silently trying to figure out the problem at their desk, a clear cloud of malaise surrounding them. The last room, features locals that anyone may recognize from around Starsand City, complete with a few little orbs of light roaming around. While there may not be anything to really note about these classes, there is one constant. The same seat, close to the window in the middle of the classroom, is always unoccupied.
At the end of the hall is one final door. All of the noise around the hall has stopped, a sheer silence that felt even harsher than before. Curiously, despite the other silent doors on this level, this one is ajar just a little. Knocking or tapping on it will open it up to a small clubroom, a singular table lined with three occupied chairs on each side, and one occupied in the center, the figure facing away from the door. As the door closes abruptly, so appears the reflection of Ryoko Asakura from the entryway. Gazing upon the clubroom, at the figures either engaged in conversation with each other or texting on their phone.
"Mm, so you came to the club room today too.."
'Ryoko' speaks quietly, regarding those who came in, to interrupt this scene.
"That's okay. This club isn't real to begin with. We're only a Literature Club in name-- no, really, we're nothing like that either. These are my friends. They're leading good lives, happy lives. They're living so comfortably with each other."
She approaches the first pair, a plain brown-haired boy happily speaking to a bespectacled girl with purple hair, long in the back.
"Kyon-kun and Nagato-san have each other. It was really only a matter of time before they got together, and the moment they did, I could feel that I didn't have a reason to stay anymore. That's why I made my wish, after all."
As she completes her sentence and steps away, the pair stand from their seats and make their way to the door, leaving the room. She approaches the third seat on this side, a large young man with impossible red hair, a bang extended past his scarred face. He's got his eyes fixed on his phone.
"Kakyoin-kun said he needed me there, but why would he? He has other people around him that he's known for much longer than me. They had already shown that they were more competent than I could ever be. Even if I thought I had a remote chance with him, his eyes were never on me. I did have Sachiko's phone... that's who he needed to speak to. The one you could have saved, but you didn't."
The young man stands, flip phone opening as he dials a number and starts making his way out of the room, phone held up to his ear. She approaches another pair, two that may not only be familiar to some in town, but may actually be in the room at that moment. The small, long haired girl, talking excitedly to a slightly taller red-haired girl, fox ears on top of her head.
"The girls I fell for. I knew I shouldn't have said anything to Yayoi if I wasn't sure, but I made that promise and wound up breaking her heart. I just had to dump her for Taiga. Mm, but as happy as I am with her, and how glad I am that they're friends... Yayoi has a new girlfriend now. Taiga... mm, something could happen that sends Taiga back home to her friends. The ones who love her... and the one that she loves. They might have different loves themselves, but at least they've become great friends to each other. I should be happy about that."
The visions of Taiga and Yayoi excitedly bolt up, as if there was something they had made immediate plans to do and they dash their way out of the door. There are two figures left in the room... the last on this side, the always familiar young man, adorned in pink, cheerfully tapping away at a cell phone.
"My best friend. Someone I'm willing to live with for the rest of my life, even if my life doesn't last long. I keep wondering, how many times will I actually hurt him? I can't, for the life of me, get along with his partners. Akutagawa-san, Speck-san, Inaba-san, I just repel them completely. One day, if it's as a Witch, or just as spiteful old Asakura-san, he'll have to defend Inaba-san from me again, until he's finally done with me. I wouldn't blame him, either."
With that, the vision of Yumeno Yuuto pops up to his feet, and with a smile, disappears completely. Teleporting away. Sighing, 'Ryoko' leans against the table in the room, staring up at the ceiling.
"Where's my kindness getting me? I'll be kind, I'll make friends, and inevitably... I'll either realize that I was only a backup to someone else in their life. Hah... even the one person who planned to see me after all of that, who had wound up hurting and still smiling... I left her without even thinking too hard about it, didn't I?"
The final figure, a girl with long brown hair adorned with yellow ribbons, and a completely unique school uniform from the others you've seen to this point, just sighs, eyes unfocused as she walks past both 'Ryoko' and her visitor.
"...haha. I showed up, and they all left. As if I didn't exist in the first place. That's fine. It can be that way. I'll only ever be a backup, in the end."
Finally, her gaze falls upon those in the room with her.
"What are you planning to do? You can walk out right now, but that way will just take you back to the entrance, and I'll still be here. But I still have friends that'll be higher up and even if they don't need me... I still need them."
The reflection of Ryoko Asakura transforms into her magi outfit, and draws her knife.
"If you plan to threaten their happiness, I won't show you any mercy."
anyway if your character was 100% absolutely planning on hitting up this floor, let's hash out how the interaction would have went. would you have fought ryoko? would you have talked her down? how would you have tried to reach her?
essentially what winds up here would be canon, and ultimately we can figure out where they go from there.
long story short, ryoko reflection's going to fight to protect her friends happiness at the cost of herself, even if she believes they're all willingly planning to leave her. do not comment if your character was 'hypothetically' going to be there. be cool pls. ]
[Needless to say, Mei would have been there without question, and attempted to talk Ryoko's reflection down. Her katana would have been at the ready in the event of a fight; she always tries to come prepared for everything.
But words are always better than crossed blades, so she'd rather not have to draw it if she can help it. She'd probably recognize that self-sacrificing nature early into the conversation too. (Thanks for that, Kiana...)]
[Yayoi would 10000% be here. She would almost certainly try to talk Ryoko down! She's not... the best at it, but she tries. She would want to tell Ryoko she wants to stay with her as friends anyway, and promises she won't leave her!]
[Elliot would have been there. He would have tried talking to her, and although he’d defend himself he wouldn’t draw his sword on her. He would have yelled at her that she isn’t just a backup to the people that love her, and remind her of what she told him and that goes for her too, sometimes we hurt people and we hurt the people we love. He would say that no one could replace her weird type of warmth (sorry Ryoko) and that he cherishes her and would miss her if anything were to happen. Plus Yuuto needs a best friend as weird a he is! He would mention she doesn’t have to do anything special to be loved, and remind her that Taiga loves her, and sorry but probably also mention that she could be in a ot3 with Taiga and Yayoi. He’d yell at her to not insult herself or loved ones like that and that she’s stuck being his friend!!]
it would be very smart to try and talk your girlfriend with a knife down, but taiga isn't one of those folks. the moment that ryoko is done with her monologue and draws her weapon, taiga's going to give that reflection a great big hug. no, she will not transform. if the reflection tries to attack, taiga won't try to stop it. she'll just go on about how stupid it is to worry about that, because taiga would never want to leave her. there will also probably be tears. ]
