SPACE GIRL MAGICAL☆RYOUKO
Soulgemmed was a Puella Magi Madoka Magica based game, where characters were granted a wish in return for becoming a Magi transported into a town called Nyoi-cho. The magi were meant to protect the town itself from Nightmares, but something sinister introduced them to the concept of Witches, and there seemed to be a more sinister plot happening behind the scenes, though we'd never find out what that is.

Ryoko arrived very shortly after the first batch of magi appeared, trying to fit in with the others from the start. It was difficult at first, given that she had no real experience in fighting or in using magic. In fact, she was being thrust into strategy meetings and Nightmares fairly quickly, and she felt completely out of place from the start. Still, as time went on, she became more and more acclimated to the task of being a magi, and grew to be reliable as her tenure went on, growing into one of the more passive leadership roles in town.
Ryoko as a magi had a few basic abilities to learn, most of which were defensive: the ability to make a 'Closed Space'; a translucent bubble that acted both as a shield and a healing circle, as well as basic restorative magic. Offensively she could summon three weak spears to fire off at Nightmares, and near the end, gained an ability to exude aura when she's mad, acting as a paralyzing glare. It took her a while to acclimate to those powers, but through diligent Nightmare hunting through the nights, it quickly became second nature to her.
Since arriving in Nyoi-cho, Ryoko grew to slowly accept the fact that she was more than likely not going to return home and had made her peace with being separated with Yuki. She had made a new friend to act kind of as a surrogate Yuki, but in the end she learned how to nurture and release a bit, though she'd still pine for days where she could act as a mother to just one person. Instead, she grew to be more of a supportive big sister to everyone in town that needed it, helping her ease out of her comfort zone and making friends with most of the town.
She's no longer surprised by magic, dangerous situations or really, being transplanted anywhere else. While she'd rather not have to deal with much of it, she understands the concept of having to do what needs to be done, and making an attempt to make, respond to, and follow orders accordingly. In that respect as well, during her time she learned to make sure to hold onto a fraction of hope, as giving in completely would typically lead to the end of a Magi's life.

Powers
» Passive Ability: Bred from Ryoko's wish, her passive ability would center around the need to protect whoever she's with. Subconsciously, depending on the level at which Ryoko feels that it's up to her to keep someone safe, she'll receive a boost in speed and attack power, but will be more likely to leave herself open for an attack. In RPG terms, ATK and SPD go up, but DEF goes down.
Being that it is subconscious and not a switch she would be able to flip herself, most of it will depend on her relationship to the other person. An acquaintance would see a minuscule bump, and a friend would see a smallish-medium bump. For that matter, someone she sees close to, if not on the level of Yuki Nagato will see her with a much larger reaction than the other two. Of course, this comes at a heavy price: the more time she spends feeling like she needs to keep them safe, the more she'll burn away at her Soul Gem's purity.
»Active Ability: Ryoko's active ability is similar to one that she might have had in another lifetime. She gains the ability to create a circular space with an 18 ft. radius around her, initially acting as a healing bubble that'll protect her and whoever she's close to from mild attacks. It only heals the person she's with however, while it'll protect Ryoko, she's completely unable to patch herself up with it. The ability can last ten seconds, before it starts to take a physical toll on her. The larger it is, the harder it is to sustain, and at 18 ft, it disappears at 5 seconds. It also takes her up to five minutes to be able to make a new one.
2/6 Update- Ryoko's able to channel magic into a few small spears, giving her a weak starting projectile to use against enemies. She can only summon three at a time for a start.
3/20 Update- Provided that she can get all of it into her closed space, she can trap and cause an enemy to rapidly slow to a crawl, giving her and whoever she's in the bubble with a chance to attack. This works on what Ryoko considers to be an enemy, usually a familiar.
9/27 Update Data Restoration: Ryoko can focus most of her magic into healing someone, in or out of her closed space, restoring physical health. Paired with her closed space, she can heal anyone in her bubble (a lot less than if she focuses on one person)... but it comes with an added caveat. She can also choose to heal herself only in her closed space, but if she does, she can't heal anyone else until the next time it pops up. As such, it can't be overused.
1/24 Update- Cool Edition: Depending on how angry or frustrated she gets at something or someone, Ryoko gains the ability to exude a terrifying aura that may temporarily paralyze an enemy. This can't be used in conjunction with her Closed Space. The aura is more or less effective depending on how scared they get of her and the aura itself.
4/21 Update- Space Manipulation: Ryoko gains the ability to distort space in front of her utilizing a weapon. With it, if she moves her weapon in a certain way, she's able to create a distortion that will either act as a pushback shield, or a slashing attack. It's upgraded in that initially, she would have only been able to use it as a way to deflect mild attacks back at enemies, a la her Closed Space. As a mid-level ability, she's able to use it the opposite way as well-- instead of creating a translucent space to protect herself or anyone she's close to, she's able to slash at the air and remove space, creating a semi-powerful slash attack.
They both take up a bit of magic, the latter more than the former.

written up summary of her tenure (WIP)
"I want to know that Nagato-san will be happy without me protecting her."
A wish made carelessly during a moment of weakness in Ryoko's life. A wish Kyuubey preyed upon, taking her from her home and dropping her into Nyoi-cho.
It wasn't until March of her first year that she began to get involved a little more. A pair of magi from a nearby town called Chusei-shi reached out to the group, members of a magi quintet known as Cyborg Xpress. As four of the five made their way to the town, they were captured. The remaining magi, Sachiko Hatsu, reached out to warn them of a massive monster coming their way. Though she felt completely unprepared, Ryoko fought alongside the rest of the magi. However, as she saved another magi from sacrificing themselves, she was lulled to sleep and captured by the monster. In the end, the magi did stop the monster, at the cost of permanently killing two of the members of Cyborg Xpress during the battle and the other two seemingly losing their memories of being a magi.
As Ryoko mulled over her usefulness in battle and the feeling of knowing two of the magi they were meant to meet had died, she tried to learn more about her abilities in earnest. In doing so, she ran into a new magi brought in by Kyubey-- Taiga Aisaka. Though Taiga was standoffish and Ryoko wasn't sure of what to make of her, she still offered to cook a meal for her as a peace offering. Her time spent making friends was delayed momentarily as the town itself began to see a terrible flood, with Ryoko and the rest of the magi tasked with keeping the townspeople safe. Everything crumbled down as the magi were thrust into the flood itself, and Ryoko managed to save Taiga from drowning utilizing her Closed Space ability. Exhausted but safe, Ryoko did her best to try and keep spirits up after the flood, cooking for the town and even communicating with who appeared to be a more veteran magi: a girl by the name of Kyouko Sakura.
The next month brought the reveal of a labyrinth underneath the school, and Ryoko felt that at the very least, exploring would be something she could do. The looming and dangerous feel however caused her to ask for help, and she wound up enlisting Kyouko to come with her inside. The two proceeded on until they reached a dark room, where Ryoko began to hallucinate and see images of her friends from home, dead with all signs pointing to Kyouko being the one to kill them. Panicking and unsure of what to do, the moment that Kyouko bumped into her, Ryoko plunged her knife into her three times. It negated Kyouko's regenerative magic, inevitably killing her.
Instantly, she left the dungeon and just about hid away at Taiga's home, not daring to step another foot back into the dungeon. Though at a point she'd be able to speak to Kyouko again and explain herself, she never felt that she had ever made amends for what she had done, figuratively running away from her for quite some time.
Ryoko didn't do too much for the next couple of months, getting a little bit of rest. It wouldn't last long as a mysterious website went up to inform the magi that they were able to get a second wish through the "Happiness Game", a game dedicated to having the most happiness in town-- and taking it from all others at any cost. Though all others would participate in some way shape of form, some unwillingly and others to get what they wanted, Ryoko remained defiant and didn't do anything. Unfortunately it did come at a cost: the person with the most happiness at the beginning was Taiga, and she was promptly killed as a result. Other friends of hers were caught in the crossfire, and she still remained on the sidelines, doing her best not to get involved. In the end, she ended up with zero points, one of the only magi in town who did-- and she received a message for her trouble: doing nothing didn't change anything, and all she did was waste time by not getting involved.
The true function of the happiness game came once those who were effected by the game were allowed to travel out of town to Tsukudo-cho, a nearby ski resort town. While those magi left, Ryoko stayed behind and despite everything, went further into the school's labyrinth to assist the others in more investigating. Though she never did much in battle, her role as a backup began to shine through, as someone who could reliably take over the role of an organizer if needed.
It wasn't until March of the next year that Ryoko would be thrust back into battle. In January, she had met with Miki Morikawa and Hoshiko Ohka, the two transposed members of Cyborg Xpress to check on them. Later that month, they disappeared completely. Thus came March-- an enemy forced the group to make a difficult decision to have one of them turn into a witch. If they failed to go along with it or tried to jeopardize the mission itself, the vote would be canceled and both would be subject to becoming a witch. Ryoko felt Sachiko should be privy to any decisions to be made and made the call just before a group attempted to break in to save the pair. Though Sachiko said to call it off and Ryoko relayed the message. With a split-second decision on their end, the group proceeded on, and Miki and Hoshiko both became Witches.
The end result left Sachiko unable to be found, and Ryoko bitter that the group of magi had become so fractured that a decision like that could be heard and ignored.
Side note: Ryoko herself is coming from the beginning of May, so a little after the April boss fight. She's got an ability she hasn't used much of yet.
QUICK CR THING
good standing
taiga aisaka → her best friend, someone she cares deeply about, will protect with her life
noriaki kakyoin (au) - someone she looked up to and admires a ton, former crush
madoka kaname → a sweetheart in a world full of monsters
osomatsu matsuno → someone who believes in her more than almost everyone else, even if he is kind of a lazy slacker
lemmy koopa → a nice child, seems kinda dangerous but isn't a bad guy
dave strider → bad taste, but not a bad person. always got along with.
asriel dreemurr → precious to her, did something really horrible but she's since forgiven him (because he's cute)
neutral
shinoa hiiragi → ryoko punched her once, was kind of a bratty child but seemed wronged? just went about things immaturely
pokey minch → someone who had been to multiple worlds before showing up in nyoi-cho. informed her that those existed. was instrumental in cyborg xpress's death, so she's never fully forgiven him for that.
mettaton → the first thing she knew about mettaton is that he helped out with pokey. had been upset at him for a long time, but was slowly getting over it. never really resolved.
bad standing
kyouko sakura → ryoko accidentally killed her. despite that, she was always rude and abrasive, and ryoko had no faith in her. she wants to be like her, but aspires to be better than her.
lilith → killed asriel, tried to kill her. liked talking to her before she leaned in hard to being a monster.
